Interactive distance learning, tools and principles used in a course on natural resources management
Distance learning is increasing in popularity around the world. Top US Universities, at times have more than 100000 students signing up for courses. Typically these courses consist of video lectures and a limited number of questions, and no exam is offered. Kahn Academy offers short videos on thousands of different topics, has about 2 million visitors every day, and is now linked to classroom teaching software.
Our new course in natural resources management is designed to handle a quite large number of students, while giving frequent feedback and offering an online exam. To build intuition a large number of interactive animations, simulators, simulation models, and games are offered. We demonstrate course material and discuss pedagogical principles.
