Asgeir Sorteberg (GFI):
Norwegian precipitation the last 100 years. Why has it changed so much?
Abstract
Norway has experienced a change in precipitation over the last 100 years, which is far more than what has been simulated by couped climate models using observed changes in natural and anthropogenic forcings. Thus, the reasons for the large observed changes and to what extent they are linked to anthropogenic changes is still unknown.
The talk will give an overview of variability and long term trends seen in the observations and propose a simple theoretical framework for diagnosing precipitation changes. The usability of the framework is tested to see if it can shed some light on the reasons for the variability and long term trends seen in the observations
